Abstract

This study aims to determine the teacher's role on students' interest in learning mathematics in grade IV at SD Inpres 3 Kasmbar. This research method is descriptive qualitative research. The samples of this study were teachers and fourth grade students of SD Inpres 3 Kasimbar. The sample of this study amounted to 25 people consisting of 1 teacher and 23 students. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis technique used descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the role of the fourth grade teacher at SD Inpres 3 Kasimbar was classified as very high. This affects students' interest in learning mathematics in terms of the achievement of indicators for the teacher's role; 1). Educate, provide direction and motivation of students; 2). Providing facilities, providing teaching materials; 3). Helping students' personal aspects, teaching them to do good to always tell the truth. Fourth grade students' learning interest at SD Inpres 3 Kasimbar is classified as very high, seen from the achievement of seven indicators of student interest in learning; 1). Students' readiness to prepare stationery and participate in the learning process; 2). Student attendance, always present on time before learning begins; 3). Ability to answer questions, students try to answer questions from the teacher; 4). The enthusiasm of students in answering questions, in answering questions students are very excited because the material in the learning process is so interesting; 5). Attention students in learning, students always pay attention to learning and ask material that has not been understood; 6). Persistence in working on questions, students are able to answer questions independently without the help of others; 7). Interest in answering questions, students try themselves in working on questions to get the right answer.
