Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of social and cultural values in the learning process of Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) at SMA Negeri 1 Sirenja. The social values investigated include cooperation, sportsmanship, tolerance, and discipline, while the cultural values encompass the preservation of local culture, respect for cultural identity, multicultural awareness, and the integration of modern and traditional values. This research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods concurrently. Quantitative data were collected through the distribution of Likert-scale questionnaires to ninth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Sirenja, while qualitative data were obtained through interviews with PJOK teachers. The results indicate that social and cultural values have been implemented quite well in the PJOK learning process at SMA Negeri 1 Sirenja. Social values such as cooperation, sportsmanship, tolerance, and discipline are evident in team sports activities and in interactions among students. Cultural values are also reflected through the cultivation of respect for local culture. Interview findings reveal that physical education not only plays a role in developing students' physical aspects but also contributes to character building. Nevertheless, several challenges remain, including differences in students' characteristics and the influence of habitual gadget use, which affects students' readiness to participate in learning activities. Therefore, physical education has a strategic role in instilling social and cultural values when supported by teachers' roles, school policies, and students' awareness in the learning process.
